The intrauterine devices are the most widely used reversible contraceptives in the world. Modern IUD's are safe, highly effective for contraception & are also cost effective. One of the most commonly used copper bearing IUD is the Cu375. The Model Cu375 is appropriate for women who want to space their children, as it is effective for a period of 5 years.
 
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PATIENT
  • Following the insertion of the IUD, experiencing short term mild cramps are normal these cramps can be managed by tahing analgesic tablets or applying to warm compresses on the abdomen.

  • 4 - 6 weeks after the insertion of the IUD, arrange to make the initial visit to your doctor.


  • During the first month following the insertion of the iud, check the suture requlary especially after your period then check the sutures following menstruation. If the sutures cannot be found and if they are longer or shorter than usual, visit your clinic.

  • If the sutures cannot be found, the plastic part of the IUD can be felt with hand ; if IUD has been expelled or if you missed period then visit your clinic without delay.
